The Geisha Girl

Ebony shadows move

behind the shoji screen,

and the tea light flickers

like a swallowtail butterfly.

Vibrato of koto music,

pulsating in the wind.

The song of a Japanese quail

within cherry blossom trees.

The geisha girl dances

like the Moon over Tokyo,

alluring with fresh flowered perfume.

Her hair arranged like an ikebana,

nestled with purple orchids and beads.

A black silk kimono

upon the bamboo floor,

and sweet scent of lemongrass

drifts in the window.

The geisha girl discreetly whispers

behind the rice paper screen.
