The Hourglass

Smoldering embers of yesterday
wafting in the breeze_
Silken hues of crimson,
haunt as well as tease.

Echoes of ethereal sighs
from the peaks of mountain tops
Within the halo of the fog,
and early dawns dew drops.

A clandestine love affair
in shadows of what could have been_
Vanishes within the hourglass,
and sienna sands therein.

The wraith of romance knocks
at threshold of my door_
Apparition of a stranger,
tantalizes…once more.

The second verse was so beautifully penned Rose, an absolute gem of imagery..

The ethereal feel is sensual and delightful in this tantalizing piece of romance Rose..

The flow, the rhyming scheme, and the alliteration are most wonderfully done to give unto us a nostalgic air in this gorgeous write, SR. As Fay says, this is a well-crafted poem, Ma'am.

Was re-reading and oddly the final verse reminded me of Poes the raven sort of in reverse
Evermore not never more -- knock as if someone gently rapping Oh well these are just odd thoughts
