Humanity's Ratchet

Postby stevenstirk » Fri Jun 26, 2015 2:50 pm

The earth turns around and no-body can catch it
There's only one chance on humanity's ratchet
Thus, shaping our fates, where obliquity crosses
Where gains of our life are another mans losses
Who knows where we steer in our prognostication
The harbinger speaks with forewarned inspiration

But I won't be listening any time soon
As I carve up my life with a runcible spoon

And when it's all over....... at least I can say
Perhaps I meandered , somewhat, on the way
Digressed and was far from an earthy perfection
And sampled, too oft, Mother Nature's confection
And now in full circle we come to life's ledge
With fate and crossed fingers, we fall off the edge

Who knows where we go, or perhaps what we find
As the earth turns around and its ratchet's unwind

:geek:  :?

Skillfully penned and thought provoking...Enjoyed very much...Rose

A write that comes at us from a personal perspective, giving voice to our questions about what is next for us after our journey on earth is over, Steven. This is a compelling and thought-provoking write, sir.

This is brilliantly penned, Steven. A poem that many can relate to.

i am always smiling as soon as i see another of your poems Steven, but this one has lots of relevant thoughts woven into it. Cleverly rhymed you have asked the eternal question of what comes after the ratchet has wound down, and will how we have lived determine where we shall go? :D :D :D
