When I notice ripe head-fulls
of blue thistles
fevers begin for long-lost fields.
Orbs on long thin-dagger stems
haunt my former
recall of thorned prickle-seeds.
Summer's rattle-fun magic
from cups' savage
sting always lured bees and me.
Blue globes of dry-spike sound
conjured music
to inquisitive fingers and ears.
Innocent games making tunes
from swaying prickle
allure was meant to bring fear.
Nostalgia can still not believe
childhood's strange
