The Well

Postby Sandra Martyres » Tue Aug 04, 2015 5:43 am

He fell into the well of darkness,
Slipping along its green slimy wall.
He felt slugs brush against his face,
His feeling was one of revulsion.

Life had been dishing him lemons,
He could no longer tolerate
The sourness, he'd had enough
The well seemed the only way out.

As he hit the bottom, he thought
It was the end of his journey.
But alas, he had a surprise,
There was someone waiting for him.

It is not so easy to quit -
Said the stranger, in a loud voice.
I am glad to have company,
It has been a bit too lonely.

He was sure that he'd reached Hades.
The well was much to deep for him,
To still be alive, so he said -
Surely it's not you Lucifer!

Certainly not- you foolish man.
I reached here the same way as you,
Only to find myself alive.
Now we have to get out of here.

Reset your thought processes,
It is now time to strategise
And come up with a rescue plan.
We travelled light without mobile phones!

An intriguing way to use the metaphor of a well Sandra, and i love the imagery that you have portrayed within it.

Thank goodness he found a light at the end of the tunnel (well)
and the turn in the last line was very surprising... :D

This is a very interesting story, uniquely told. I like the image of a well and it had an unexpected ending. :-)
