On Higher Ground

Our thoughts can lift us where all good resides,
may send us into dark and deep despair;
Or fill our hearts where peace and joy abides,
with tender loving mercies, healing care.

'Til we know the power of spoken word,
to harm, to charm, to lift, let goodness show;
Then much of what is spoken goes unheard,
becomes the place where vilest hatreds grow.

Our deeds provide the legacy we leave.
They help or hinder those that we may love.
This tangled web of life wherein we weave
becomes mere pittance for great things above.

May thoughts, words, deeds lead on to higher ground,
'Tis there life's greatest blessings may be found

Hi Joseph and welcome back .

A sonnet which holds many truths and things to ponder on especially the third stanza which has a special message in the opening line.

A pleasure to read my friend...

A blessed place to try to achieve is that higher ground your verse so engagingly describes my friend - a delightful read.
