When Night Falls

‘Neath a cloak of darkness
bedsprings squeak,
dogs bark and cats cry

In lost reflections
water darkens
willow weeps and lovers sigh

One last raindrop
falls so sadly
veiled clouds and watery sky

In the distance
a train rumbles
fading away and echoes die

Amber streetlights
glow in puddles
gates creak and hours pass by

In the silence
trees in shadows
hushed by leaves and lullaby

Pale sun rises
o’er dew of morning
all is safe and angels fly

This is just so beautiful. It's a soothing poem. Almost like a lullaby.

Your mono rhyme brings in a scenic continuity, and I can imagine all the sounds, then the silence you so creatively craft thank you Stella.
