Snake

Postby Ratliff » Sat Sep 05, 2015 3:50 pm

Check my books www.amazon.com/author/richardratliff

The snake slithers around my cheeks
It's fangs attack my face.
And I suck in oxygen's grace
My lungs are almost spent
As nicotine stained fingers grip the viper's face.
Ashamed of listening to the serpent

Clouds rising from white chalk predicts.
Venomous signals swirling on the River Styx
While the path I traveled pulls on my fate
As Charon awaits payment at the dock's gate.

Really well done, cigarette smoke does "Snake" into circles and your lungs slithering into the smallest channels to annoy and irritate until finally it spits its venomous cancer.

What a wonderful metaphor you have used Rick :)

Can relate to this one Rick - though now long ago I encouraged that viper and felt the same shame. A good read.
