A children's poem that I wrote sometime ago....
**********************************************************************
Perky Parrot and Dunno Donkey,
Met on a street in a Turkish city.
Perky cried out - hi there, dear old boy,
How are you doing today my friend?
Dunno he replied, you're a Godsend,
My back's hurting but I dunno why.
It's that lumpy sack of potatoes,
You're carrying, that's making you morose.
Don't worry, I'll help you pal, shall sit
On your master's shoulder for a bit
Squawking, till he unloads your burden
Then we'll together raid his garden.
O thank you Perky you're very kind,
Friends like you are not easy to find!
Perky perched himself accordingly,
And began chanting unendingly.
The man tried hard but couldn't stop Perky,
Angered, he whipped the poor donkey.
Dunno cried friend you ain't helping me,
He is now beating me viciously,
I dunno why, I can't run faster!
Perky, please stop my wicked Master.
Don't worry Dunno, I'll peck his nose,
That will put an end to all your woes.
He nipped Dunno's master's fat red nose,
For his friend, Perky had settled scores.
The man leapt off the donkey screaming,
A passing thief grabbed the sack beaming.
Dunno, now you're minus your burden,
Let's feast on carrots from his garden!
